
General gymnastics, suitable for 4 years and above. This is a program for children that teaches the basics of gymnastics in a non-competitive and fun environment. The program is based on the guidelines recommended by the Australian Gymnastics Federation and uses the ‘building block’ technique of simplifying skills into key movements and then adding variety and difficulty as the basic skills are mastered. The general gymnastic classes use all areas of the gym including trampolines, climbing ropes, bars, beams and a sprung floor. The children are encouraged to work through a set series of ‘skill levels’ on the various pieces of gymnastic equipment. They work at their own pace and are assessed at regular intervals. Children are taught in small groups by a qualified coach and groups are graded according to age, ability and are mixed gender.
Should a session be missed, makeup classes are available. Please refer to the Member Handbook for the full policy.
Please note:
1. Children to be dressed in a leotard or firm fitting shorts and t-shirt or singlet. No dresses or skirts or loose fitting clothes please. Hair should be tied back.
2. Children participate in bare feet.
3. Please bring a drink bottle with water (no juice or cordial please).
4. There is a no food policy inside the gym. Food and open drinks must be consumed in the seating area adjacent the gym.
